Our Approach to Safety
At Parrish Aviation, we know that safety doesn’t happen by accident, we strive to proactively mitigate risk factors with the following approach:
Non-punitive Safety Reporting
A robust safety reporting system is vital to the complex operations of a flight school. These reports are encouraged and easily available for anyone from staff to customers to submit (link above!). We use these non-punitive reports as a tool for our pilots, mechanics, dispatchers, and management to learn from each other and grow as a team in our pursuit of safety.
Monthly Safety Council
Safety requires a voice from every perspective. To achieve this we include management, our chief pilot, director of maintenance, a flight instructor, dispatch, and as of June 2025, two students. It is crucial that we have all eyes on safety and every voice contributing to risk management. Our safety meeting are extremely fruitful and have specific implementations every month with assigned responsible parties to ensure accountability.
Quarterly Review
In addition to our regular maintenance, 100-hr, annual inspections, and unscheduled maintenance, we also review each aircraft with a checklist every quarter. This checklist includes items such as legal documents, maintenance and cosmetics, checkride binders, and more at a regular interval with management to ensure our fleet gets the attention and upgrades it deserves over the long run.
Proactive Oil Analysis
We are proud to say that we send out oil samples for testing from every single 100-hr inspection. These reports are vital to achieve proactive risk mitigation, they tell us exactly what metals are found in the oil and at what levels. Our pilots can rest assured that we are doing everything possible to identify maintenance trends early and often so that the pilots can focus on what they love, flying!
“Safety does not happen by accident, it must be a proactive endeavor.”
