A discovery flight is a one-on-one introductory flight lesson with a Parrish Aviation Certified Flight Instructor (CFI). You'll sit in the left seat of our modern Sling NGT training aircraft, take the controls, and actually fly over Fort Worth and the surrounding Metroplex — no experience required.
Discovery flights typically last 45–60 minutes and depart from Hicks Airfield (T67), located at 171 Aviator Drive, Fort Worth, TX 76179 — on the northwest side of the Metroplex. Your CFI will be with you every step of the way: pre-flight walkaround, taxi, takeoff, and landing.
Many of our students book a discovery flight before committing to a full training program. It's the best way to know if flying is for you — and for most people, one flight is all it takes.

Your discovery flight at Parrish Aviation Fort Worth includes:

All discovery flights are logged in your official FAA logbook and count toward your Private Pilot Certificate if you decide to continue training with us.

Hicks Airfield is ideal for first-time flyers. The relaxed, non-towered environment gives you room to breathe while still exposing you to real DFW Metroplex airspace. Once you're comfortable, training naturally progresses toward Alliance Airport (KAFW) and DFW Class B operations — the same airspace the airlines use.
Our instructors are full-time, career CFIs. Over half hold the FAA Gold Seal, awarded to instructors with exceptional student pass rates. You'll be in experienced hands from your very first flight.
